Proximity Mines are (obviously) not player-flyable and only appear in Combat.

Proximity Mines are stationary objects that have five short arcs, and have one unit of armor. They have the highest damage per second of any pirate "plane" you will encounter (arc stats below). Mines may easily take up to 10 shields of health in a second, if not more; due to the amount of critical hits mines deal, Silhouette and Armor Class are of little help against their arcs. Proximity Mines appear in the following Legendary Combats: Hidden Fleet, Blast from the Past, Light House and Minefield. They currently do not appear in normal combats. Fortunately, as they are stationary objects with very short arcs, most planes are able to make short work of them by utilizing side arcs or, using a front arc, by airbraking and swerving away just before entering their deadly arcs.

A quick way to clear away a mine is to use a Flak weapon - the crits will hit them and easily tear them to pieces in one or two shots. Machine guns and Autocannons also make short work of mines. Never depend on taking out a mine in one shot, because you won't have much chance to evade it if it survives. Mines have very low Silhouette, so be careful when attacking them with Howitzers.

As of Thursday 6th, May 2010, Mines now come in two flavours, Proximity Mines and Lighthouse Mines. Proximity Mines function as above. Lighthouse Mines are essentially identical, though they sacrifice one Proximity Mine arc and replace it with one of the Circle/X-36' Tri-Barrel Longarms.

Standard Proximity Mines possess five arcs, all identical and somewhat overlapping.

Lighthouse Mine Edit

Lighthouse Mines have only four 'proximity' arcs, but also sport a longer-ranged gun.
