[edit] Naes Draw
AKA: Naes, Pronounced Nay-s.
Born and raised on Cidade, he learned quickly to keep on his toes. Due to his parents travel for work, he was homeschooled. His parents dealt somewhat under the table for a living, whatever the newest black market thing was. All he knew was just that they traveled often. He learned to take care of himself on the streets of the city. He also was trained in pistols by his father, and given a pair of Smit & Waterson .9mm specials for his 10th birthday. To this day he still carries them. They both taught him to look one more layer down, keep notes, watch your back. His mother always said, “Never have your back to a door or window, at a bar, home, anywhere. The one you don’t see is the one that will catch you unawares.” His parents went to a “party” on a Lancaster to discuss business. Taking Naes along thinking it would keep him safe.
The trip was a long overnight trip, with the meeting happening late at night.
He wanted to join the “party”, but wasn’t allowed, made to stay in his bunk and sleep, to keep him out of the way of the meeting. It saved his life, not being in the nose, as it was strafed by a band of pirates trying to kill the host, and was downed. Rescue pilots recovered him, but there were no other bodies ever recovered.
He hitched a ride with a friendly Azure League pilot to Echo, during which he learned the basics of flight, and combat, during which he decided to become a combat pilot to avenge his parents.
He completed Flight School soon after the platforms disappeared, much to his disappointment.
When he traded in his CR-4P for a Phantom, he knocked off a small piece and wears it around his neck as a reminder of where he’s been.
Soon after this, he joined the Azure League, remembering the friendly pilot who helped him so much.
Recently, he started learning about the Azure Wind, and joined an expedition to Earthbreach to learn more about what happened to Voyager Islo. https://skyrates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3970

[edit] Mildred Butters
Species: Deer
Age: 22
Gender: Female
Original home: Alpha Three
Occupation: Mechanic
Date of Employment: Apr 21 '08
Employer: Naes Draw
Notes: Grumpy, but caring. Can get a bit frantic when she’s worried, otherwise she tends to be a bit quiet. Prefers some semblance of civility, but doesn’t get much around here. Good at her job, and able to keep up with new developments as they pop up. Likes machining little models out of scrap metal. Oddly, doesn’t seem to mind much when the craft is shot up. Either doesn’t mind her hard work wrecked, or likes the challenge. Or she’s into that sort of thing… Well, whatever the case, she gets her job done and well, so be it.
The Vengeance model made for Naes's birthday.
[edit] Dirty Elgrin
AKA: El, Pronounced L
Species: Cat
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Original home: Alpha Two
Occupation: Navigator
Date of Employment: Apr 29 '08
Employer: Naes Draw
Notes: Adventurous, but a bit too headstrong. Always wants to see what’s past that next skyland, just a bit farther, etc. He has quite a way with maps and charts, always shaving time off trips where I figured that there was no way to trim anymore off. An enthusiastic photographer, he uses aviation as his theme. A bit quick to get demoralized, a nasty pirate attack can leave him moping in his bunk for a day or more. He always gets back to business however; he can’t help it. Adventure is in his blood.
I think he’s got a stash of ‘nip somewhere; I keep getting this odd plant scent over by his bunk. Oh well. As long as it doesn’t interfere with his work, it might help with his mood.
Example of his work. The first de-cloaked X-36 seen by the crew.

[edit] Outside of the craft
There is a large white four-pointed star in a blue circle in the middle of each wing, and a smaller on each side of the fuselage with the words “Blinding Star” in gleaming white.
[edit] Fore of the plane
Specially modded control panel at pilot’s chair. A small, shaved metal model of a Vengeance made by Mild sits on a spring on the top of the instrument panel. Small labels are taped over the stock tags, showing changes to the controls and gauges.
[edit] Far aft and down of the crew pod
At the back edge of the control area is a small drop with a short ladder leading to crew workstations/crew bunks. The medical kit and safety equipment is in a large metal chest to the left of the ladder, and to the right is the Dump Box.
Three bunks, left and right and center, fold up for crew stations. The insides are padded on the walls, ceiling and bottom, and the sheets clip to the inside wall to help hold in the sleeper during rough skies. The fasteners are quick release from inside and out for safety.
[edit] Naes Draw's Bunk
The center bunk is Naes’s. In and around Naes’s bunk are a few relics from his former home on Cidade. He also hangs his twin 9mms his father gave him there, as well as the small piece of CR-4P he keeps on a string around his neck. He also keeps a notebook and pencil in a special holder he made out of an old pack on the inside wall of the bunk, for easy access. He also keeps a basic Psych profile on his crew, to check on changes in mood, actions and other things.
[edit] Elgrin's Bunk
Elgrin’s bunk on the left has a few pictures, some odds and ends, and an odd plant smell that comes from a few of his spare film canisters, in which he keeps a secret, small “medicinal” supply of ‘nip. Photography is a big hobby for him, and he takes many pictures, however he has yet to come up with a way of developing photos in-flight, so he stores the spare film in his storage bin. He also stores the tools of his trade, charts, tools, and the flight computer there in the storage rack for easy access.
[edit] Mildred's Bunk
Mildred’s is on the right, with some machined decorations made of scrap metal in her spare time in between runs. She’s made planes, birds and so on. She also made a scale model of the Blinding Star for Naes’s birthday. Her prized creation is a scale model of her home skyland with moving parts. She also keeps the toolbox, welding mask and repair manuals for the various modifications and upgrades that have been added to the Star in the storage compartment there.
There’s always some junk lying around, Blue research papers on the latest innovation, spare parts, yesterdays snack... But the crew of the Blinding Star does their best to keep things clean. Last time they didn’t, a bunch of leftovers found their way on to the controls in the middle of a combat maneuver, to the annoyance of all involved. So at their next stop, Mild added a mid sized storage box on the other side of the ladder clearly labeled, “DUMP BOX” where loose things are thrown into and sealed shut before combat, to keep the interior airspace clear while Naes uses the Star’s .80 cal gun to keep the external airspace clear.
[edit] Starboard access way to engine, gun.
A small passage, just better then a crawlspace leads to the engine and gun mechanics.
Plenty of added straps help keep the mechanic secure during maneuvers when there are repairs to do in combat.
